One thing that’s become clear to me lately: making good content means going out of your way. Like, really out of your way.
YouTube used to be my go-to for entertainment. It still is—but now I see more. I notice the camera angles, the transitions, the effort behind simple moments. Especially in lifestyle vlogs—there’s this intentionality behind what looks casual. Someone had to move the camera three times just to show themselves walking into the kitchen. Then reset it again to capture a different angle while cooking. That’s effort. That’s storytelling. And it’s kind of wild when you think about how much work goes into something that looks so “effortless.”
That shift in perspective has stuck with me. I’ve been leaning more toward content lately—trying things out, posting bits and pieces. Not waiting for everything to click. Not waiting to “find my niche.” Just creating.
And trust me, I’ve had full-blown debates with ChatGPT about what kind of content I should be making. It throws out ideas. I shoot them down. “That’s not me.” “Doesn’t feel right.” “Close, but no.” Eventually, I realized I was going in circles. So now? I’m just posting. Random things. Anything. One day it might click—but only if I keep showing up.
For the next few months, I’m committing to that. One video a week. Not perfect. Not polished. Just something. Going out of my way to show up, even when I don’t have all the answers.
Better to be somewhere a year from now than nowhere because I kept waiting for clarity.
Thanks for reading. I'll catch you in the next one.
